Words used within the "baseball world":

The term "RBI" means "run batted in", which is often seen in baseball box scores. The player who hits another player in to score gets credit for an RBI. A "Walk-off" occurs when a player gets a basehit or a homerun to win the game, and the opposing team ironically walks off the field. The "bump" is a term used for the mound where the pitcher pitches, as you may here the phrase "We have a good pitcher taking the bump today". When a player hits for the "cycle" it means that he has hit atleast one single, double, triple, and homerun all in the same game. When a hitter hits a homerun with the bases loaded he has hit a "grandslam". A team's "ace" is the team's best pitcher. The "bullpen is a term referring the area where pitchers warm up and prepare to pitch in the game. Lastly,"painting the black" is a term used for pitchers, when they are throwing pitches on the edge of the plate for strikes.
